Nestled in the vibrant 9th arrondissement of Paris, Le Barbes is a charming restaurant that masterfully blends a cozy atmosphere with a welcoming neighborhood vibe. Located at 191 Rue du Faubourg Poissonniere, this delightful spot offers a diverse menu that has won the affection of both locals and visitors alike.
Le Barbes shines in its dedication to serving simple yet satisfying dishes, where flavors are honest and genuinely comforting. While their pizza appears to be a popular choice—as noted by one guest who enjoyed a perfectly baked pie with a golden crust and fresh toppings—other menu highlights include a delectable salade niçoise and a richly spiced, aromatic couscous that has left several diners singing its praises. Each dish reflects a thoughtful balance of fresh ingredients and traditional techniques, creating an inviting tapestry of tastes that linger pleasantly on the palate.
The dining experience at Le Barbes is enhanced by its relaxed, unpretentious ambiance. Several reviewers have appreciated the quiet charm of the space, ideal for an intimate meal or a calm evening out. Sitting on the tables outside as the sun sets, guests can soak in the gentle buzz of one of Paris’s livelier quarters, making each visit feel both authentic and uniquely Parisian. The staff contribute significantly to this warmth—friendly, helpful, and able to converse in English, they make the restaurant accessible to international patrons without losing its local character.
Le Barbes also earns points for its location, just steps away from the Louxor Cinema, making it a perfect stop before or after a film. Whether dropping in late at night for a crisp draft beer or enjoying a leisurely dinner, this spot has a quietly enduring appeal that’s hard to find in the midst of a bustling city.
In summary, Le Barbes offers more than just food—it delivers a genuine Parisian dining experience with dishes that comfort and satisfy, an inviting atmosphere that soothes, and a welcoming spirit that makes every guest feel at home. If you find yourself in the 9th arrondissement, this gem is worth discovering for both its heartwarming couscous and its convivial, laid-back vibe.

Lovely little restaurant in a good location. Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke enough English to make it a good experience. We all had the pizza but saw others' food and it looked good. I've posted some photos of the menu for you to look at if you want some more information. We sat on tables outside in the evening and it was absolutely delightful. Wasn't too busy so we got good tables and service They had the the rugby world cup on They may well have football on too at times, but I'm not sure. You can also sit inside or in another section of the pavement where you don't see the sport so the choice is yours. One drawback is that they didn't seem to have disability facilities (although we didn't ask so maybe they do). Google is also being odd about what I can write so apologies if there isn't enough info.

I had a lovely salad niosoise on our first Parisian morning in June 2017, while my son had a Napolitana pizza. X

Late night spot that still served so that’s a plus. Nice old guys, couple beers on draft. Good spot after everything else closed. Around 8€ for a beer

Excellent coucous served with a smile in colorful Barbes neighborhood. Perfect location for a meal or glass before or after film at the Louxor Cinema right across the Blvd.
